The best Shopify apps for Black Friday

Eleven apps for the six jobs that decide Q4 — capturing gift buyers, lifting order value, creating honest urgency, setting delivery expectations, cutting the post-purchase load, and staying compliant while traffic spikes. Compared on verified App Store ratings and total cost including usage fees.

Disclosure: This roundup is published by Giftnote, and Giftnote is one of the eleven apps listed. Every rating, review count, price and trial length on this page — ours and everyone else's — was read from the live Shopify App Store listing on 10 September 2026, and every app carries a stated trade-off, including ours. Within each category, apps are ordered by review count. Giftnote is the only app we list for gift orders, which is our own category and we are not pretending otherwise — weigh it accordingly, and every listing is linked so you can check us.

Methodology

How we picked

Eleven apps across the six jobs that break during Black Friday. Giftnote is our own app and is disclosed as such; within every category, apps are ordered by review count rather than by our preference.

Verified App Store data

Every rating, review count, price and trial length was read off the live Shopify App Store listing on 10 September 2026. Nothing here is carried over from an older page — four of these figures had already moved in the twenty-four hours since the previous review, which is why the date is printed on the page rather than buried.

Review depth, not just score

A 5.0 from 114 merchants is a weaker signal than a 4.9 from 1,800. Both numbers appear everywhere on this page so you can weigh them yourself.

Total cost at Black Friday volume

Several apps here charge per order, per return request, or per gift recipient on top of the subscription. Those fees are invisible in October and material in December, so we show them beside the subscription rather than in a footnote.

Chosen for the Q4 job, not the category

These are not the eleven highest-rated apps on the store. They are apps that address something specific that breaks under Black Friday load, grouped by the job they do.

Turn gift buyers into customers you keep

Black Friday and December are when a large share of your orders stop going to the person who paid. That changes what the order is worth: someone who has never bought from you is about to open your product, and in most stores they leave no trace beyond a shipping address. This is the first category because it is the one most Q4 stacks skip.

1

Giftnote: Gift Message Engine

by GiftnoteOUR APP
5.0(167 reviews)
From $19/mo+ $1 per gift recipient30-day free trial

Best for

Brands treating gifting as a growth channel — where the recipient becomes the next customer, not just a shipping address.

The most complete gifting engine on this list, and the only one built around what happens after the parcel lands. Gift messages are delivered by SMS and email timed to real carrier delivery data, and recipients sync into Klaviyo or Attentive, where they can opt in to your marketing, so gifting builds your list instead of ending at the doorstep. Digital gift cards, store credit and cashback sit in the same app, and the $99 Corporate Gifting (Professional) plan adds a multi-address portal for bulk and B2B orders with shipping and tax handled automatically. It carries a 5.0 average across 167 reviews.

  • Delivery-timed gift notes by SMS and email, triggered by real carrier tracking
  • Recipients synced to Klaviyo and Attentive so gifting compounds into your list
  • Multi-address bulk and corporate gifting, including a send-to-many widget
  • Digital gift cards, store credit and cashback campaigns in the same app
  • Gifting revenue analytics — attributable revenue, not just an order tag
  • Founder-led onboarding included on every plan, from $19/mo

Watch out: Pricing scales with the channel — $1 per gift recipient on top of the plan — so it pays back fastest once gifting is a real revenue line rather than an occasional add-on (volume pricing is negotiable). It is purpose-built for gifting, so pair it with a promotions app if you also want free-gift-with-purchase offers.

Sell more to the traffic you already paid for

Black Friday traffic is the most expensive traffic you will buy all year, and most of it leaves without converting. Two mechanics move the number without discounting any harder: letting shoppers save what they want before the sale starts, so you know who to email when it does, and raising the value of the orders that do land.

2

Simple Bundles & Kits

by Freshly CommerceBuilt for Shopify
4.9(791 reviews)
Free plan, then $14/moFree plan, no trial needed

Best for

Stores that want a higher average order without discounting any harder.

Fixed bundles, mix-and-match, multipacks, BOGO and volume discounts, with inventory tracked down to the component SKU rather than held against a separate bundle product. That last part is what quietly breaks other bundle apps in December: a bundle that does not decrement its parts will happily oversell them. It syncs with 3PL and WMS systems, works with POS and Shopify Flow, and gets past Shopify's 2,048-variant ceiling. The free plan covers 3 bundles and 50 monthly orders.

  • Component-level inventory, so bundles cannot oversell their parts
  • Fixed, mix-and-match, multipack, BOGO and volume-discount bundles
  • 3PL and WMS inventory sync
  • Gets past Shopify's 2,048-variant limit
  • Free plan covering 3 bundles and 50 monthly orders

Watch out: The free plan's 50 monthly orders will not survive Black Friday, so budget for at least the $14 Basic tier before November rather than hitting the ceiling mid-sale. Bundles also change what your fulfilment provider sees on an order, so run a real one end to end with your 3PL before peak instead of during it.

Swish (Wishlist King)

by Swish (AppMate)Built for Shopify
4.9(288 reviews)
From $19/mo30-day free trial

Best for

Brands running a real Black Friday discount who want the demand captured before it starts.

Shoppers save what they want in October, and you go into November with a list of named people and the exact products they are waiting on. Price-drop and back-in-stock notifications are what turn that from a saved-items feature into a Black Friday campaign, because the email goes to people who already told you what they want. Wishlist data syncs to Klaviyo, GA4 and Meta as audiences rather than sitting inside the app, and setup and customisation are included free on every tier.

  • Price-drop and back-in-stock notifications — the actual Black Friday mechanic
  • Wishlist data synced to Klaviyo, GA4 and Meta as usable audiences
  • Saving from collection, product and quick-view
  • Analytics on what is being saved and not bought
  • Free setup and customisation included on every plan

Watch out: Pricing is banded by your Shopify plan rather than by usage, so a Plus store pays $99/mo whether ten people use the wishlist or ten thousand. It also only pays back if you actually send the campaign — the app captures the intent, it does not act on it for you.

Create urgency that is actually true

Black Friday is a deadline, which means urgency mechanics are honest here in a way they are not for the rest of the year. That only holds while the deadline is real.

4

Essential Countdown Timer Bar

by Essential AppsBuilt for Shopify
5.0(1,703 reviews)
Free plan, then $6.99/mo7-day free trial

Best for

Running a genuine sale deadline without paying for a full conversion suite.

A countdown bar for announcement, product and cart pages, holding 1,703 reviews at a 5.0 average. Scheduling a Black Friday timer that ends when the sale actually ends takes minutes.

  • Announcement bar, product page and cart timers
  • Scheduled start and end date ranges
  • Recurring and fixed-minute timers
  • Support for 19 languages
  • Free plan covering a single timer

Watch out: Urgency mechanics work only while they are honest. A timer that resets on reload, or a “sale ends” date you then quietly extend, teaches customers to disbelieve the next one — and Black Friday is the one moment of the year when the deadline is genuinely real, so there is nothing to fake.

Answer “will it arrive in time?” before they ask

From late November, one question decides a large share of your conversions, and it is not about price. Publishing an honest delivery date on the product page does more for December conversion than most discount mechanics, and it removes the support load in the final week.

5

Zapiet ‑ Pickup + Delivery

by ZapietBuilt for Shopify
4.9(1,869 reviews)
From $49.99/mo14-day free trial

Best for

Retailers offering local delivery or click-and-collect through the Christmas rush.

Zapiet is the established pickup and local-delivery scheduler, and the deepest review base of any delivery app here. Shoppers pick a date and time slot at checkout, and you cap orders per slot so the December schedule stays deliverable.

  • Date and time slot picker at checkout
  • Order capacity limits per slot
  • Multiple locations with a store locator
  • Shopify POS integration
  • Blackout dates for public holidays

Watch out: At $49.99/mo it is priced for retailers with real pickup operations, and it is a genuine configuration job — locations, zones, slots and blackout dates. Beginning that in November is late; the 14-day trial should start well before.

Essent Estimated Delivery Date

by Essential AppsBuilt for Shopify
5.0(979 reviews)
FreeFree plan, no trial needed

Best for

Any store where “will it arrive before Christmas?” is the question blocking the sale.

It puts an estimated delivery date on the product page, in the cart and at checkout, calculated from your processing times and shipping methods. It is free, which makes it the highest-leverage thing on this page relative to cost.

  • Estimated delivery date on product, cart and checkout
  • Processing-time and daily cut-off rules
  • Country-specific delivery estimates
  • Holiday and non-working-day calendars
  • Countdown to the daily dispatch cut-off

Watch out: It displays an estimate, it does not verify one. The date is only as good as the processing times you configure, and a carrier that slips in peak week turns an accurate-looking promise into a broken one. Review the settings before December rather than during it.

Flare: Delivery Date Picker

by FlareBuilt for Shopify
5.0(114 reviews)
From $39/mo7–10 day free trial, by plan

Best for

Stores where the delivery date is chosen by the customer, not just estimated for them.

A date picker on the product, cart or checkout page, with rules by postcode, product and shipping method, and a per-day order cap so you never promise more deliveries than you can actually make. Lead times are set per product, so a made-to-order item and a stocked one show different dates on the same storefront. Built for Shopify, with carrier and fulfilment integrations including FedEx, UPS, ShipStation, Recharge and Skio.

  • Customer-selected delivery dates at product, cart or checkout
  • Rules by postcode, product and shipping method
  • Per-product lead times on a single storefront
  • Daily order capacity limits, so you cap what you promise
  • Carrier and 3PL integrations including FedEx, UPS and ShipStation

Watch out: Plans are capped by monthly sales volume rather than order count — $39/mo covers up to $20K a month, and a good Black Friday can push you into the next tier mid-campaign. It is also the shallowest review base on this page at 114, so the 5.0 rests on less evidence than the other delivery apps here.

Survive January

Black Friday is measured twice: in December revenue, and in what is left in January after the returns and the support queue. The second number is decided by decisions you make now, because neither a returns process nor a self-serve order edit can be installed retrospectively.

8

Return Prime: Return & Exchange

by Appsdart SolutionsBuilt for Shopify
4.8(766 reviews)
Free plan, then $19.99/mo+ $0.49 per return request above plan15-day free trial

Best for

Stores that want January returns automated without an enterprise contract.

Return Prime gives customers a self-serve returns portal, generates shipping labels, and pushes exchanges ahead of refunds so revenue stays in the business. Built for Shopify, with a free plan for low volumes and a 15-day trial.

  • Self-serve customer returns portal
  • Automated return shipping labels
  • Exchange-first flows that retain revenue
  • Store credit offered as a refund option
  • Return reason reporting

Watch out: Pricing is per return request — $0.49 beyond your plan's included volume — so the January spike is precisely when it costs most. Count last January's returns before choosing a tier.

Loop Returns & Exchanges

by Loop
4.6(443 reviews)
From $155/moNo trial listed

Best for

Established brands with return volume high enough to justify a dedicated returns platform.

Loop is the enterprise end of returns — exchange-first journeys, bonus credit that steers refunds into exchanges, workflow automation and fraud controls. Brands running serious January volume generally end up here.

  • Exchange-first returns with bonus credit incentives
  • Shop Now, letting a customer spend a return against a new order
  • Return workflow automation and rules
  • Return fraud detection
  • Analytics on return reasons

Watch out: $155/mo is the highest entry price on this page and no trial length is published. Below a few hundred returns a month the economics do not work, and Return Prime covers the same job for a fraction of it. It also holds the lowest rating here at 4.6.

OrderEditing.com

by Order EditingBuilt for Shopify
5.0(330 reviews)
From $99/mo+ $0.01–$0.03 per order for address validation7-day free trial

Best for

Stores whose December inbox fills with address changes and “can I add one more thing?”

Customers fix their own orders after checkout — address, products, shipping method, discount code, or cancel — without a support ticket. The address is validated at the point of the edit, which matters most in December, when a wrong address means a parcel that misses Christmas entirely rather than one that arrives late. Post-purchase offers sit inside the same flow, so an edit can add revenue instead of only costing you a reply. Built for Shopify, and integrated with over 100 fulfilment and shipping platforms.

  • Self-serve address, product and shipping-method edits after checkout
  • Address validation at the moment of the edit, before it reaches the warehouse
  • Post-purchase upsells shown inside the edit flow
  • Customer-initiated cancellations without a support ticket
  • Integrates with 100+ fulfilment and shipping platforms

Watch out: At $99/mo for the 100–2,500 order tier this is the second-highest entry price on the page, so the support hours saved have to be real ones you can point at. The trial on that first tier is 7 days — long enough to install it, not long enough to watch it work through a peak.

Buying guide

How to choose your Black Friday stack

Five questions worth answering before you install anything. They narrow eleven apps to three or four faster than any feature matrix.

Do your Q4 orders ship to the buyer, or to someone else?

This splits your app list in two. If most gifts ship to the buyer, gift wrap and a message card is enough. If they ship to a third party, that recipient is a stranger who now has your product in their hands, and capturing them is worth more than the wrapping.

What will the usage fees cost in December, not October?

Per-order, per-request and percentage-of-value fees all scale with peak volume. Take last year's November and December order counts, run them through this year's pricing tiers, and compare that against the subscription. It is frequently the larger number.

When is your shipping cut-off, and does your storefront say so?

The highest-leverage change most stores can make before Christmas is publishing an honest delivery date on the product page. It converts hesitant buyers and removes the support load in the final week.

Have you installed it before the traffic arrives?

Most of these need real setup — delivery zones, slot capacity, return rules, gift options by collection. A 7-day trial started in late November tests nothing. Install in September or October and let it run through a normal month first.

What happens in January?

Black Friday is measured in December revenue and January retention. How returns are handled, and whether a gift recipient ever becomes a contact, both decide the second number, and both have to be in place before the first.

Where we fit

Black Friday's second customer

Every app on this list helps you sell to the person holding the credit card. Giftnote is built for the person opening the box.

A gift order is the only kind of Black Friday order that puts your product into a stranger's hands. You have already paid to reach them, and in most stores they leave no trace beyond a shipping address. Giftnote is built around that moment: the note is timed to real carrier delivery data so it arrives with the parcel, and the recipient syncs into Klaviyo or Attentive, where they can opt in to hear from you. That is what turns a December spike into a January list, and it is why brands running gifting as a growth channel rather than a checkout add-on tend to land here. If your Q4 orders ship almost entirely to the buyer, a simpler gift options app will serve you better and cost you less — there are several good ones on the Shopify App Store, and this page does not attempt to rank them.
