Barrika 'Txerri' is a Basque Country Cider co-fermented with macerated cherries.
Before you turn your nose up at the notion of a Spanish cider being made with cherries - hear us out. We were highly skeptical too, before we popped open a sample bottle of this cider.
Made from a single-barrel selection of a traditional, classic Sagardoa which is then blended with macerated local cherries. The result is quite nice, with only the slightest hints of the cherry addition - it drinks more familiar to a classic Basque cider than any fruited cider. The cherry adds a freshness to the cider as well as a bit more body than typical of Basque Country ciders.
Still (uncarbonated). Aromatics of green apple and soft cherry. Dry cider with plus acidity and low tannins. A mild sourness (VA) with fresh green apple notes, light barrel, a nice mouthfeel, and a very mild linger of cherry on the finish. Light drinking and refreshing.
